Free Will – Does Such a Thing Exist?
Free will – some people make it the source of their self-worth, others the source of their existential security, and all together, it becomes the universal law that allows people to feel they are in control of their lives. But is free will the key to our independence along the way?
Daily life is composed of energetic sequences of choices. They can be pyramidal, where one choice affects another, or they can be synchronized with each other, where one choice creates a new possibility for choosing. Your choice is always free. Even if you are influenced by external or internal motives, you are choosing to be influenced by them. There are two ways to choose what to be influenced by:
1. Awareness – If you are aware of something and either agree with it or vehemently oppose it, then you are influenced by it.
2. Gain – If there is a certain psychological gain you receive as a result of your choices, it doesn't have to be positive or negative; it's an existential gain. Certainty, control, a defense mechanism against overly direct confrontation with fear, and so on. This is a choice that doesn't have to be conscious.
The moment you choose one of these two, you are essentially creating reality. Whether the choice is conscious or unconscious, your reality is your choice.
In most cases, free will will appear to contradict your lessons; it can be a reason you might feel restricted from doing what you want, and then you'll start to develop the pattern of radical choice. This is one of the most common reasons people don't pass their life lessons. This pattern teaches us about our need for control. People who hold onto this pattern control their lives through their need to choose freely without allowing any guiding hand other than their own to direct them. Do you believe that all the answers are within you? Do you believe that if a certain answer isn't within you, something is wrong with you?
Think about it like babies. Could creation have made babies who walk, talk, and eat on their own from the moment they are born? The ability not to centralize all of a baby's needs solely in their own hands teaches us communication and cooperation. It teaches us that the final and ultimate word rests with us, but not only with us. Our soul has concentrated a variety of character traits that it didn't want us to hold onto ourselves, but rather with those close to us, so that we would learn to cooperate. Each of us has at least one person in our environment about whom, when we think of them, we say to ourselves, "It would have been much easier for them than for me to deal with what I'm going through now..."
This is precisely the person our soul wants us to learn from. This is precisely the inspiration our soul wants us to take from that person who carries within them a trait that is not part of our own character traits for our current journey.
Are we willing and trusting enough of each other to cooperate?
After you read this article, return your choice to its original freedom. Choose one person whose qualities you are curious about and offer them cooperation, even without a defined plan. You will discover a magic that is created.
