Are Leadership Qualities Acquired or Innate?
This is one of the oldest questions in all of human history, and yet, it's also a question that each and every one of us encounters as we navigate our life lessons. Most people ask this question to discover if they can attain or acquire traits they don't believe are woven into their inherent character. However, in reality, this question is based on the assumption of scarcity, that resources are limited and must be competed for. Therefore, even innate qualities become perceived as acquired when they fall under the interpretation that certain traits must be achieved. Let's break down this question into 4 key components, to provide you with certainty upon which you can bridge the gap between your aspirations and your current reality:
1. **Leadership** - Leadership can be perceived as an individual's talent to rally people behind them towards a specific goal. This assumes that people are meant to abandon their own goals to listen to a leader. From the understanding that resources are not limited, leadership is the ability of an individual to prepare the ground for others to fulfill themselves.
2. **Qualities** - People tend to attribute qualities to specific abilities or character traits, whereas qualities are independent entities that can always be connected to.
3. **Acquired** - People tend to attribute an acquired quality to something that can be learned, whereas in certain situations, acquisition is an access and connection to inner knowledge.
4. **Innate** - People infer that every person is born with a set of abilities, whereas these sets of abilities are not 'operating instructions' meant to guide one to a destination or goal, but rather raw, inner knowledge that it is the individual's role to choose how to bring into action.
